18 little things

I'm stealing from my old blog what I stole from Thoughtcatalog. 18 things you should consider making time for: Writing things by hand. Letters to friends, lists for the store, goals for the week, notes for lovers, thank you cards and memos to coworkers. Digital communication is easy and convenient but ask anybody: there’s a huge difference…

about me

A freshly-graduated and newly-wedded 20-something trying to help my husband through seminary, potty train a puppy, and grow in love and knowledge of Jesus. An Oxford comma enthusiast, online and brick-and-mortar teacher, administrator, creative wanna-be, and bibliophile pretending to be an adult and occasionally remembering to water her plants.

Hey, Valentine. 😘
Peter’s got Uncle Bum wrapped around his little finger. 💕
I’m resigned to the fact that all I look forward to these days is an afternoon cuppa, a bit of dark chocolate, and this lovely illustrated HP. 😍 I am obsessed and so loving re-reading it. I wish I could say I was waiting in line at Barnes & Noble with each new book release. But I was actually one of those homeschoolers who wasn’t allowed to read HP because of “sorcery” and “dark magic.” I won’t go down that road, but needless to say, I didn’t read them until college. When my parents gave my younger siblings the green light (after a lot of begging and research and putting their rhetorical skills to work 😂), we all read them aloud at Christmastime.🎄 I keep thinking back on those days and I hear @kcrampton’s voice and we’re all crammed into the upstairs hallway smashed between pillows, completely lost in a world of wizardry and magic. ✨ Are y’all long-time HP fans? Or new-ish to it all like me? And have you seen Jim Kay’s illustrations? They are to DIE FOR. 📚 #bookstagram #books #harrypotter #illustratedharrypotter #hp1 #bookish #reads #readingtime📖 #bookcommunity #jkrowling #readersofinstagram #instabook
My love is oft-times low, My joy still ebbs and flows; But peace with Him remains the same— No change Jehovah knows. I change, He changes not, The Christ can never die; His love, not mine, the resting-place, His truth, not mine, the tie. Horatius Bonar (1808-89) Thankful this morning for the Chinese New Year (which means teaching fewer classes in the early morn), for unexpected time together this morning with husband (+ Clive), for the past weekend of soaking up the truth of the Word @thegospelcoalition Women’s Training Network, and for the beautiful reminder that I serve a God who is the same, yesterday, today, and forever—no matter how I “feel” at any given moment. His love, not mine, the resting-place.
Throwing it back to a practically perfect fall day with some of my very favorite people this side of heaven. So what if Thanksgiving was months ago? And if you want to see more of our Turkey Day shenanigans, the full video’s on the blog. 👉🏼
Sweet reunion with old friends. 🎉 Old friends not pictured: John Piper, Paul Washer, and Voddie Baucham to name a few. 😉 Other things not pictured: one very ghetto Airbnb, our free book plunder, the yumminess of @poncecitymarket, the Christ Church crew, and the mass of brothers and sisters gathered together to hear the Word preached faithfully and worship the Lamb who is worthy. • What a wonderful, convicting, encouraging, refreshing weekend to be reminded of so many eternal truths: the blessing of the Great Commission, the Church as the Bride of Christ, the call to personal holiness, and the sweet rest that comes when we see the glorious sovereignty of our good God. Thankful. • #g32019 #g3conference
